Colonel Stephen J. Lutsky

Col. Steve Lutsky has logged over 26 years in the U.S. Army, completing seven combat deployments in Bosnia (twice), Albania and Kosovo, Iraq (three times) and Afghanistan and receiving 38 medals, including three Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts, five
meritorious service medals, three Army commendation medals (one for Valor) and the combat action badge. He joined the Army in 1987 as a 19D (Armored Reconnaissance Specialist). He has trained American, Balkan, Iraqi and Afghan troops in doctrine and tactics. He served in Tikrit, Iraq, in 1995 as the Battalion XO; and in Iraq as the Brigade S3 for the Surge (2007-08); and as a squadron commander of 1-33 CAV, 101st Airborne Division, deployed to Khowst, Afghanistan in 2010. Currently Col. Lutsky is the Director of Mounted Systems at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md. In winning six promotions in 23 years, Col. Lutsky also landed three college degrees and attended three military schools, including the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
